CatsDog Photography started in January 2013. The founder Cat was working at a family portrait studio and noticed that the dogs couldn’t express themselves like they would outside in a natural environment. Cat’s dog Poppy, who was 18 months old at the time – and is now the CatsDog logo and mascot – heavily influenced the start of the business venture. Cat spent a lot of time with her, from training classes to snuggling on the couch and could see that other people valued their pets just as much so she decided to give the on location dog photography idea a go.
CatsDog started off as a part time venture but within 3 months it already had enough interest to become a full time business. Linda, who is Cat’s Mum started to help with the bookings among other things and soon became a valuable employee. Within 15 months, the business had made enough money to upgrade all the photography equipment and convert a garage into a studio for the clients to view their pictures.
There have been a lot of changes at CatsDog over the last year, we are now 4 years in and have 6 members of staff, including 4 photographers who you can get to know better over at the ‘Ask the Team’ section of the site. Our comfy little studio will still be around for a few more months but we are currently moving to a much bigger Premises on Tulketh Brow just off Lane Ends on Blackpool Road.
